Dry stock is predominantly supplied by Nisa with orders and deliveries scheduled over 4 regular days. Ancillary orders are scheduled with other specialist suppliers, each requiring differing degrees of intervention. There is also a requirement for site consumable stock such as janitorial supplies and carwash chemicals.

Some of the purchasing function has been delegated to senior staff. Oversight of the purchasing process is still required to ensure continuity of contact and stock consistency.

The GM will be responsible for Shell forecourt brand compliance.

The shop itself is a significant part of business sales and requires constant monitoring for presentation and pricing. Product rotation, seasonal promotion, and weather driven opportunities are all important factors in the optimisation of the shop’s performance.

The GM will be expected to maintain a clear strategy for retail performance.

Daily sales and cash handling is the responsibility of the Chief Cashier (CC). The GM however, has oversight of the daily sales and reconciliation process, supporting the CC in cash handling and also covering for CC absence.

As part of the financial function, the GM generates weekly, paid-out, sales, and accounting reports for submission to the Company accountant. The GM is also responsible for the reconciliation of the bought ledger function, ensuring expenditure is accounted for.

The Company offers selected local businesses credit account facilities. It is the GM’s responsibility to operate this service, monitoring account holder activity, managing the monthly Direct Debit payment processes, and dealing with any queries that may arise.

The GM is expected to facilitate cover for staff absence, sometimes out of hours and at short notice. The GM will be expected to take some shifts, particularly during staff holiday periods.

You will require a proactive approach to management looking for opportunities to develop the retail offer, improve presentation, and maintain the site’s general infrastructure.
